granted, this was for war crimes. so if they charged every soldier/commander for what they did, quite a bit of the population would be facing time behind bars. regardless, it's still mind-boggling and down right disturbing to think that someone would simply be charged with seven years for doing seven lifetimes worth of damage.

The saddest aspect of it all is that the “used” space in the jails across the world are being wasted on petty crimes. Of course, I’m not saying that petty criminals should not be punished, nor am I forgetting that “war crimes” implies kill-or-be-killed. It’s just such a paradox that a man who commits three felonies is thrown in jail for life while a man who raped, murdered, tortured, and beat victims is given seven years.
